Why does windows think my disk is not initialized?
I use Windows 10 with the latest updates (according to windows check for updates) on my notebook. A 7-port USB hub powered by an external power source connects 5 external drives to the notebook. I had these days shut down the notebook, disconnected, switched on and operated without further connections; then properly shut down. After I then reconnected it at his regular place and started up, I was no longer displayed external drives. A sixth external drive, containing backup copies and normally not running, was detected immediately after power up (via hub). As a check, I connected the hub with all drives to my old notebook with Windows XP. Here all drives were recognized and I was able to work with them. Back to Windows 10, and they were gone. NOTE: I have had this phenomenon several times in similar variations; however, an update was always installed by Windows shortly thereafter an update. After that, all drives were back. How can I force Windows 10 to recognize known drives? What makes an update, that after that drives are recognized again? Is there a query routine that does not respond?
